Sensory Processing Yoga Workshop

Gain a good understanding of the therapeutic practice of yoga to support children with sensory processing difficulties and sensory attachment, and how this can support self-regulation, body awareness and motor skills with simple routines and practical techniques to use at home and in school. We will combine theory and practice, engaging in various forms of yoga through the practice of postures, breathing techniques and relaxation.

Who this course is for

No previous knowledge required. Aimed at teachers, SENCOs, parents, teaching assistants and therapists (18+).  Please feel free to bring your own yoga mat however mats will be provided if needed. Please wear loose comfortable clothes e.g. t-shirt & joggers. Refreshments are provided, please bring a light lunch.

  • Understanding the effects on the nervous system on self-regulation
  • Sensory integration and neuroplasticity and how yoga fits
  • How poses, breath work, meditation, and relaxation have an impact on the nervous system.
  • Develop tools to support sensory motor disorders – Dyspraxia, Postural Motor Disorder
  • Sensory Modulation – How to balance and support the nervous system with yoga

About the trainer

Mel Campbell is an Occupational Therapist advanced sensory integration practitioner working with children with developmental trauma using the principles of sensory attachment. She has been teaching yoga for over 15 years and brings to her practice the understanding of how yoga can support young people to develop resilience and self-awareness and self-regulation.

Sensory Processing Yoga Foundation Course for people working with children with Sensory Processing Difficulties

This one day course has been developed for therapists and professionals working with children with Sensory Processing Disorder.

Tutor: Mel Campbell; Occupational Therapist, Advanced Practitioner Sensory Integration, Yoga Teacher 500 RYT, Yoga Author

To gain a good understanding of the therapeutic practice of yoga to support children with Sensory Processing Difficulties (SPD).

This course combines theory and yoga practice for therapists and professionals working with children with SPD.

Key Outcomes:

  • Understand SPD and the effects on the nervous system
  • Sensory integration and neuroplasticity and how yoga fits
  • How poses, breath work, meditation, relaxation have an impact on the nervous system
  • Develop tools to support Sensory Motor Disorders – Dyspraxia, Postural Motor Disorder
  • Sensory Modulation – How to balance and support the nervous system with yoga

Participants will be required to engage in a focus group session at the end of the day to provide constructive feedback on the course content, delivery, etc.

Supportive Birthing Workshop

Ways to have a labour of love and a Happy Birth-day

‘Giving birth is a spiritual experience if we can learn to listen to our instincts, trust, have faith and surrender to the occasion. The practice of yoga and meditation during our pregnancy can help us to do this. ‘The Yoga of Pregnancy’, Mel Campbell Findhorn Press (2012).

During this workshop we will understand the birthing process explore breathing techniques and birthing positions to help relieve discomfort during labour and aid for an easier birth. We will practice ways birthing partners can assist the mother through massage, affirmations and breathing. We will learn ways to dispel fears, anxieties and concerns replacing them with feelings of trust, courage and positivity.
So you can experience a labour of love and create a joyful environment to celebrate the Happy Birth-day of your new baby.


Prenatal Yoga Training Course
